It’s the same test! Does this mean one of my meters is inaccurate?
Firstly, conflicting readings do not pre-determine an operational fault. Although your meter’s age and general condition are to be factored in.
Other likely causes:
- If it’s the same test, was your blood sample exposed to the air for too long?
- Is your test strip within its expiry period? Is it damaged in some other way?
- Have your test strips been correctly stored i.e: away from heat/humidity?
- Was your blood sample ample?
- Was your test strip correctly placed within the meter itself?
- Was your meter dropped? Why did you replace your old meter?
Solutions:
- Continue use with your new meter and new supplies of test strips. Follow your User’s guide.
- Ensure your test strips are properly stored. Optimal conditions for strips lie within a temperature range of 35.6°F and 86.0°F (2°C and 30°C ) and 10% to 85% relative humidity.
- Always ensure your readings are within the normal test range.
